Stacked Books analogy used to manage stress

Anxiety's relationship to performance

We need enough, but not too much.

The Gap

The size of the gap between the level of stress you are carrying and your personal upper limit of what you can tolerate will determine how emotionally stable or volatile you are.

With little or no gap, the slightest thing will cause you to erupt or melt down.

(Become extremely irritated or cry over the smallest issue)

*Managing Stress:**

Consider stressors as a stack of books

  1. Some books can be put down (delegated, postponed, or relinquished).

  2. Decline to receive some books (say no to new commitments).

  3. Avoid picking up new books (set boundaries and prioritize).
